The number of deaths of users of Lar dos Ferroviários, in Entroncamento, infected by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 amounted to seven (one of them inconclusive), leaving five of the 45 positive elderly hospitalized.

The first cases of covid-19 in the Lar dos Ferroviários do Entroncamento were known on September 10 and so far the death of a user has occurred. But the balance rose to seven this Thursday.

The mayor of Entroncamento, Santarém district, Jorge Faria (PS), told Lusa that new tests are being carried out on users and employees, for a total of 112, counting on Friday an updated value of covid-19 cases in the institution.

Lamenting all the deaths that have occurred, the mayor stressed that one of them was not formally accounted for as covid-19 and all occurred with very old people and with “already very fragile” health situations, due to other diseases, all hospitalized.

Infected users at home remain asymptomatic, he said.

Jorge Faria said that there are currently 15 infected employees -and the one who was admitted remains in the hospital only because she does not have the conditions to fulfill the rest of the isolation at home- and the situation can be changed with the tests that are being carried out today.

With the return of the three employees recovered in the meantime, plus the seven or eight sent to reinforce the team (four made available by the municipality, two hired through the Employment Institute and one to two that have been sent by Social Security through the Red Cross), the operation has been maintained “normally”, he emphasized.
