A few days before the start of vaccination against covid-19 in Portugal, the General Directorate of Health defined specific standards.

Allergic people who have had severe reactions to medications or foods should be vaccinated in hospitals. And anyone with a serious acute illness will have to wait until fully recovered to receive the vaccine.

The DGS rules are derived from the indications sent to all member states by the European Medicines Agency. They are aimed at health professionals who begin to vaccinate the first risk group on Sunday and there are instructions on how to prepare and administer the vaccine.

More than 2,100 health professionals will be vaccinated at the Coimbra Pediatric Hospital

More than 2,100 health professionals began to be vaccinated against covid-19, on Sunday morning, in Coimbra. The pediatric hospital is preparing to vaccinate 60 people per hour.

About 80% of the 8,500 professionals at the hospital expressed their desire to be vaccinated. In this first phase, the available vaccines are far from reaching everyone and it was necessary to follow the recommendations of the Directorate General of Health to define who will be the first to be summoned.

All those vaccinated in this procedure should take a second dose in three weeks. The remaining health professionals will have to wait for the arrival of new vaccines in the country.
