The General Directorate of Health (DGS) announced in the daily bulletin this Saturday that there are 56 more deaths and 6,640 new cases of Covid-19 in Portugal. In total, the country registers 2,848 dead and 173,540 infected by the new coronavirus.

In the last 24 hours, there are 26 more patients admitted to the Intensive Care Units, totaling 366.

As for hospital admissions, 2,420 people are hospitalized, five less than on Friday.

DGS reveals that there are 72,945 active contagion cases, 2,591 more than on Friday. Also in the last 24 hours, 3,993 people were recovered, totaling 97,747 since the start of the pandemic.

Health officials now have 11,661 people under surveillance, 91,350 more than in the past 24 hours.

Government meets this Saturday to implement state of emergency measures

The Government meets this Saturday in an extraordinary Council of Ministers to carry out the measures that will frame the state of emergency promulgated on Friday by the President of the Republic and that will be in force between Monday and November 23.

This time, unlike the previous ones, the decree of state of emergency does not include mandatory confinement and, according to Prime Minister António Costa, presents “four dimensions”, the first of which allows to re-restrict travel, “that is, in municipalities with a higher level of risk” and “during certain periods of the day or certain days of the week “.

In accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic, the resources, means and public establishments of the private, social and cooperative sector may be used by public authorities, “preferably by agreement” and “with just compensation”, for the treatment of patients with covid-19. or other pathologies.
