Portugal registered 4,413 more cases in the last 24 hours of contagion and 88 more deaths associated with the covid-19 disease, according to the bulletin of the General Directorate of Health this Saturday.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 5,461 people have died in Portugal, of the 344,700 confirmed cases of infection. Another 4,805 patients were considered cured in the last 24 hours, totaling 268,453.

There are less 4 patients admitted to the Intensive Care Units, totaling 503. In relation to hospital admissions to the ward, there are less 137 people hospitalized, now totaling 3,093.

Health officials have 73,977 contacts under surveillance, 917 fewer than on Friday, the data shows, pointing to an additional 4,805 recovered patients.

Of the 88 deaths registered in the last 24 hours, 38 occurred in the North, 26 in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, 21 in the Center region and three in Alentejo.

According to the DGS bulletin, the North region is the one with the highest number of new SARS-CoV-2 infections in the last 24 hours (2,078), totaling 180,456 cases and 2,616 deaths since March.

In the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, 1,347 new cases have been reported, with 111,982 cases of infection and 1,889 deaths so far.
In the Central region there were 738 more cases of covid-19, out of a total of 36,096 and 734 deaths since March.

In Alentejo, another 130 cases have been reported, for a total of 7,743 cases and 141 deaths since the epidemic began in Portugal.

The Algarve region has reported 62 new cases today, for a total of 6,077 cases and 58 deaths.

In the Autonomous Region of the Azores, 31 new cases were registered in the last 24 hours, totaling 1,301 infections detected and 20 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

Madeira registered 27 new cases. Since March, the autonomous community has recorded 1,045 infections and three deaths.

Confirmed cases are distributed in all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years.

The new coronavirus has already infected at least 154,947 men and 189,620 women in Portugal, according to DGS data, according to which there are 133 cases of unknown sex, which are under investigation, as these data are provided automatically.

Of the total deaths, 2,862 were men and 2,599 women.

The highest number of deaths is still concentrated in people over 80 years of age.
