The mother of the baby who was left at the door of a church in Cacém, on the outskirts of Lisbon, surrendered this Friday to the authorities.

The 25-year-old confessed what she had done earlier in the week, showing great regret. She turned herself in at the Amadora-Sintra Hospital, justifying her abandonment due to having been evicted from her home.

You will soon be heard in court.

The newborn was found in a basket, well fed, with no signs of abuse and with a letter written by his mother, where she said that she did not have the economic capacity to raise him.

“Please do not judge my mother, she is only preventing me from suffering with her, we are going through many difficulties,” the letter said.
