A few hundred young people gathered this Friday and Saturday night in the historic center of Porto.

The Association of Bars of the Historic Zone of Porto said that they did not comply with the rules of social distance or used a mask: “There is no mask, nobody is protected, I could not take a photo where someone was wearing a mask.”

In an interview with SIC Notícias, President António Fonseca accused some bar owners of contributing to the gatherings, since they played music in the street. António Fonseca says that in some areas of the city between 200 and 300 people have joined, some of them minors. The Cordoaria gardens and the galleries of Paris are the most frequented by young people. He also reported seeing boxes of drinks in car bags and empty bottles scattered on the floor.

According to the president of the Illustrious Bar Association of the Historic Area of Porto, the gatherings worsened in summer, despite being common in other times.
In the past week, the number of Covid-19 cases in the north has increased. Day 30 was the region with the most daily infections.
