The Health Regulatory Authority is notifying municipalities that have built field hospitals or response detection centers to Covid-19 to enroll them in the Regulated Establishments Registry System.

The registration fees vary according to the size of the spaces and the number of health personnel involved, but they have a minimum value of one thousand euros and a maximum of 50 thousand.

The Batalha City Council estimates that “around 30 thousand euros” will be charged for registering the field hospital installed in a municipal ward. Value that the mayor Paulo Santos considers “absurd” and “immoral”.

The mayors contest the payment and have already referred the matter to the Ministry of Health and the Prime Minister’s office. They remember that the municipalities have assumed the task of building and paying for the infrastructure, but naturally they leave the management to the National Health Service.

Registration and payment of fees is a legal obligation, which is established in the statutes of the Health Regulatory Entity (ERS). ERS never responded to SIC contacts.
