Vietnamese police confiscated about 345,000 used condoms that were cleaned and sold as new, state media said.

Images broadcast on Vietnamese state television (VTV) showed dozens of bags, containing contraceptives, scattered on the floor of a warehouse in the southern province of Binh Duong.

Police said the bags weighed more than 360 kilograms, equivalent to 345,000 condoms.

The store owner said he received a “monthly contribution of used condoms from an unknown person“.

An arrested woman told police during the seizure that the contraceptives used were first boiled in water, then dried and remodeled before being repackaged and resold, according to the report. CNN.

VTV said it is not yet known how many recycled condoms have been sold.

The detainee said she received 15 cents for every kilogram of recycled condoms she produced.
