The Prime Minister said Thursday that Portugal could “take the step forward” with the deflationary measures planned for next Monday.

See below the live broadcast of SIC Notícias:

At the end of today’s Council of Ministers, António Costa explained that “the combined application of the two criteria” – incidence and transmission rate – keeps Portugal “clearly in the green quadrant.”

Portugal complies with the two indicators considered decisive to advance or stop the lack of definition: at the national level, the country is below 120 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and the transmissibility index is less than 1.

“We can take the step of advancing in the deflation measures planned for next Monday,” Costa reiterated.

António Costa recalled that the regulations currently in force will remain until Monday, including the prohibition of circulation between municipalities, which will be lifted later.

The Prime Minister also announced that on April 5 they will reopen:

  • 2nd and 3rd cycles (and ATL for these ages);
  • Social facilities in the field of disability;
  • Day centers;
  • Museums, monuments, palaces, art galleries and the like;
  • Stores up to 200m2 with door to the street;
  • Fairs and non-food markets (by municipal decision);
  • Terraces (maximum 4 people per group);
  • Low-risk sports modalities (without physical contact);
  • Outdoor physical activity for up to 4 people and gyms without group classes.

THE 19 TIPS ABOVE THE RISK THRESHOLD

The prime minister also revealed that there are 19 counties on the continent above the risk threshold for the incidence of covid-19, which may not advance in deflation, if the situation is maintained in the next government assessment, within two weeks.

Of these 19 municipalities, 13 have between 120 and 240 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days and six are even above the 240 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants, in the same period.

The Prime Minister stressed that the experts heard by the Government proposed that, “if in two successive evaluations, the same counties are above the risk threshold, in these counties the deflationary measures should not advance.”

Of the 19 municipalities with the highest incidence of cases, Carregal do Sal, Moura, Odemira, Portimão, Ribeira de Pena and Rio Maior, with more than 240 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

This group of 19 also includes the municipalities of Alandroal, Albufeira, Beja, Borba, Cinfães, Figueira da Foz, Figueiró dos Vinhos, Lagoa, Marinha Grande, Penela, Soure, Vila do Bispo and Vimioso, which register between 120 and 240 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants.
