In the last 24 hours, Portugal registered 79 more deaths and 3,772 new cases of contagion, according to the bulletin of the General Directorate of Health this Thursday.

Since the start of the pandemic, 4,724 people out of 307,618 confirmed cases of infection have died in Portugal. Another 5,572 patients were considered recovered, now totaling 229,018.

Of the 79 deaths registered in the last 24 hours, 37 occurred in the North region, 25 in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region and 17 in the Center region. Among the 79 dead there are 42 men and 37 women.

There are less 8 patients admitted to the ward, totaling 3,330. There were no patients admitted to the Intensive Care Units in the last 24 hours, remaining at 525 from yesterday.

Health authorities have 77,988 contacts under surveillance, 827 fewer than on Wednesday.

Data by region

According to the DGS bulletin, 62.2% of new cases of infection are located in the northern region, which registered more 2,244 infections in the last 24 hours, totaling 161,886 cases and 2,255 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

In Lisbon region and Tagus Valley 960 new cases of infection have been reported, with 100,960 cases of infection and 1,671 deaths to date.

In Central region there were 444 more cases of contagion, with 30,870 and 607 deaths.

No Alentejo 54 new cases were registered, totaling 6,426 cases of infection and 121 deaths.

A Algarve region Today 31 new cases of infection have been reported, totaling 5,456 cases and 51 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

In Autonomous region of the Azores 35 new cases were registered in the last 24 hours, adding 1,096 detected infections and 17 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

A Madeira registered four new cases in the last 24 hours, which represented 924 infections and two deaths.

Gender and age group

Confirmed cases are distributed in all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years.

The new coronavirus has already infected at least 135,675 men and 166,707 women in Portugal, according to reported cases.

Today’s bulletin indicates that there are 5,236 confirmed cases that are under investigation, as this data is not automatically released.

Of the total deaths, 2,462 were men and 2,262 women.

The highest number of deaths is still concentrated in people over 80 years of age.

Country in state of emergency

The country is in a state of emergency from November 9 to December 8, a period during which there is a mandatory curfew in counties with the highest risk of contagion.

During the week, the curfew must be respected between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., while on weekends and holidays, circulation is limited between 1:00 p.m. on Saturday and 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, and between 13:00 on Sundays and 05:00 on Mondays.
