COVID-19. The measurements for Christmas will only be known two weeks before

António Costa said, this Thursday, that it is still difficult to anticipate the situation of the pandemic for the Christmas season and sent the decision of the measures to be applied during that holiday season to two weeks before Christmas.

The reason is related to the forecasting process prepared by the specialists, which is based on a period of 15 days. “They have a forecast of how it will evolve until December, but as the forecast is longer, the quality is lower and the risk of deviation is higher,” explained the Prime Minister, highlighting that, “with certainty, [os especialistas] they can forecast 15 days, but not more than 15 days ”.

“I know that Christmas is when people want it, but Christmas is still more than 15 days away. Therefore, unfortunately it is not yet possible, at this time, to fully anticipate the measures that may be in force at that time, “he added.
