The General Directorate of Health (DGS) announced on Monday the existence of a total of 1,957 deaths and 74,029 cases of covid-19 in Portugal since the start of the pandemic.

The death toll went from 1,953 to 1,957, four more than on Sunday, three in the north and one in the Lisbon region and the Tagus valley.

The number of infected went from 73,604 to 74,029, 425 more than yesterday.

There are 237 more recovered patients, now numbering 47,884.

In the last 24 hours, 24 more people were hospitalized and now 659 patients are hospitalized. There are 9 more in intensive care, for a total of 98 today.

Numbers by region

Gender and age group

Confirmed cases are distributed in all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years old, with an emphasis on the 30-49 age group.

Overall, the new coronavirus has already infected at least 33,553 men and 40,476 women in Portugal, based on reported cases.

Of the total deaths, 985 were men and 972 women.

The highest number of deaths is still concentrated in people over 80 years of age.

Today’s bulletin announces the number of cases per municipality, being Lisbon which continues to present more infections (6,517), followed by Sintra (5,441), Loures (3,092) e Amadora (3,038) and Vila Nova de Gaia (2,275).
