The Union for the Investigation and Inspection Service of the Foreigners and Borders Service – SCIF / SEF left strong criticism of the Government’s election of the new director of the SEF.
The structure considers that the election of a military man for the position is a “bad political sign” and a “flight to the front” of the Government, nine months after the death of the Ukrainian citizen Ihor Homeniuk at the Lisbon airport. The Public Ministry accused three inspectors of the crime of homicide, who are now awaiting trial under house arrest.
The union even asks Parliament, parties and deputies to defend the SEF as a “civil and humanist service of migratory security and integral police”.
