Seven northern counties with more than 30% of new infection cases

Seven counties in the North registered, between the last week of November and the first of December, an increase of more than 30% in new cases of contagion and 31 counties a decrease greater than that percentage, according to the ARS report. -NORTH.

Of the various counties covered by the ARS-N, seven stand out that, between the last week of November and the first of December, registered a growth of new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection of more than 30%.

Sabrosa, Mesão Frio, Vila Pouca de Aguiar and Montalegre, in the Vila Real district, registered a growth rate of 140%, 100%, 94% and 34%, respectively.

Vinhais, Torre de Moncorvo and Vila Flor, in the Bragança district, also followed this trend.

Despite the growth, the maps of the ARS-N report on the growth and variation in the number of new cases of infection in the North reflect a greater number of municipalities in blue, that is, municipalities that explained a decrease.

Among the 31 municipalities that registered a decrease in new cases of covid-19 above 30%, Espinho, Arouca and Vale de Cambra, in Aveiro, stand out. [onde a ARS-N abrange sete municípios], a district that now represents a decline of 22%.

In this district, only the municipality of Oliveira de Azeméis counteracts the decline, registering an additional 18% of new cases, going from 309 in the last week of November to 365 in the first week of this month.

In the district of Braga, which now represents 23% fewer new cases, the municipalities of Vizela, Fafe, Cabeceiras de Basto, Póvoa de Lanhoso, Guimarães and Amares also registered a decrease.

Here, only the municipality of Terras do Bouro grew 13% between the two weeks.

As in the districts of Aveiro and Braga, also in the district of Bragança, whose downward trend is set at 24%, the municipalities of Macedo de Cavaleiros, Alfandega da Fé, Freixo de Espada à Cinta, Mogadouro and Miranda do Douro registered less than 30% of new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Santo Tirso, Lousada, Penafiel, Paços de Ferreira and Baião, in the Porto district, also followed this course.

In the Porto district, which now represents a 22% decrease in new cases, only Amarante counteracts this trend, registering an additional 28% of new cases and going from 209 new cases in the last week of November to 268 the first of December.

The ten municipalities of Viana do Castelo, a district that now has a decrease of 29%, decreased the number of new cases of infection by the new coronavirus, especially Arcos de Valdevez, Paredes de Coura, Melgaço, Vila Nova de Cerveira and Caminha.

In the Vila Real district, which represents 20% fewer new cases of contagion, the municipalities of Alijó, Ribeira de Pena, Mondim de Basto, Boticas and Chaves also register 30% less than the number of new cases.

According to the report, Chaves is the municipality with the highest incidence rate, standing at 2,363 cases per 100,000 inhabitants every 14 days.

Chaves is followed by the municipalities of Mondim de Basto, Vila Pouca de Aguiar, Trofa, Vila Nova de Famalicão, Guimarães, Armamar, Póvoa de Lanhoso, Vieira do Minho and Esposende.

In these nine municipalities, the incidence exceeds 1,300 cases per 100,000 inhabitants every 14 days, with the average for the North region being 930 cases.

Portugal represents at least 5,192 deaths associated with covid-19 in 332,073 confirmed cases of infection, according to the latest bulletin from the General Directorate of Health (DGS).

The country is in a state of emergency from November 9 to December 23, a period during which there is a mandatory curfew in the counties with the highest risk of contagion.
