A 34-year-old man and two women aged 20 and 25, not residents of the Region and with an air connection with mainland Portugal, were diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 detection test. before shipment with a negative result and whose test carried out after the sixth day gave a positive result.

Another identified case reports a 60-year-old man, resident in the Region, who was tested for COVID-19 due to symptoms, with a positive result, being admitted to the Hospital do Divino Espírito Santo, in Ponta de Esbelto.

In the context of the epidemiological investigation of this case, five positive cases were diagnosed, corresponding to high-risk contacts, which are isolated, namely, a 37-year-old man and four women between 42 and 42 years of age. 56 years.

A 26-year-old male is recovering, bringing the number of recovered cases in the Region to 222.

Thus, so far 351 cases of contagion by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes the disease COVID-19, have been detected in the Region, and there are currently 64 active positive cases, of which 39 on the island of São Miguel, on Terceira Island, one on Graciosa Island, four on Pico Island, five on Faial Island, two on Santa María Island and one on Flores Island.

The prevention and containment measures of a pandemic must be maintained and strengthened, whenever possible, by citizens and organizations of the public, private and social sectors.
