Regional and national health officials backed the League’s proposal.

The proposal made by the League received the approval of the regional and national health authorities. The League’s proposal consisted of a letter dated September 25 and sent by the executive director, Sónia Carneiro, to the regional director of Saúde dos Açores, Tiago Lopes. “The proposal that we saw transmitted to this Regional Directorate is the realization of the game of the third round of the League, at the São Miguel Stadium, starting at 3:00 p.m. [16h00 em Portugal continental] on October 3, between the Santa Clara and Gil Vicente teams, before 700 people on the Azores bench and 300 on the central bench, ”the document reads.
The League said that the attendance of 1000 people is defined based on the informative circular of the Regional Health Directorate itself, which authorizes the presence of a public in the sports venues of the archipelago up to 10 percent of the capacity of the spaces, using a mask and distance of up to two meters between spectators. The regional measure covers all competitions in different modalities and at different levels, with the exception of the Santa Clara senior team, because, according to the regional leadership, the Azores team must comply with the guidelines of the Portuguese Professional Football League and the General Directorate of Health.
