The Inspector of the Judicial Police reveals that it was the creator of the Football Leaks platform who opened the hard drives.

Inspector José Amador said in court on Thursday that the Judicial Police (PJ) did not know the “passwords” to access Rui Pinto’s encrypted discs, as this was the option of the creator of Football Leaks.

“The option was for the accused to control that moment and enter credentials. We are not loyal depositors, it was your choice. I did not want to reveal what the access credentials were, ”said José Amador, in the seventh session of the trial, which takes place in the Central Court. Criminal Court of Lisbon.

The inspector, who is being interrogated for the fourth consecutive day, explained, when questioned by the panel of judges, that it was the defendant who maintained control of access to the records, within the scope of the copies made by the French police.

“We are of no use as collaborators in other jurisdictions,” he added.

Regarding Rui Pinto’s collaboration with the judicial police, in an issue raised by the Public Ministry, the PJ inspector said that the situation was proposed shortly after arrival, but that it did not happen soon.

“From the first day of arrival [de Rui Pinto a Portugal] This collaboration was attempted, there were meetings, but it was not possible because the accused did not understand it ”, revealed the inspector, adding that only at the end of March, beginning of April, there was a change of position on the part of Rui Pinto.

In relation to Rui Pinto’s attempt to collaborate with Eurojust, José Amador devalued it, stating that “it was not possible” in the way that the defendant intended.

Among the documents analyzed on the discs by the PJ, there was a communication with Europol, with a very high level of security.

“A protocol, which is an internal route, encrypted and with very high levels of security,” explained the inspector, and that this situation raised doubts about whether there was any level of compromise, but that no evidence of vulnerability was found.

José Amador explained that this communication referred to the scheduling of a meeting in The Hague between the Portuguese, Spanish and Hungarian authorities, in an objective of a concerted operation in the field of Football Leaks, but that it had no consequences.
