The former parliamentary leader and former vice president of the PSD, José Pacheco Pereira, will return to the party as a member of the Advisory Council of the National Strategic Council, the body that defines the strategy and that will design the party’s next electoral program. Rui Rio thus recovers a militant who remained very critical of the party itself and even participated in the PS Congress at the time when Passos Coelho was the Social Democratic leader. Former PS MP Henrique Neto is also part of the group of advisers who, according to a PSD sent to the media, will meet “for the first time on September 12 in Coimbra.”
The Advisory Board is made up of 29 members of “recognized merit of Portuguese society“, including militants and independents. The former Minister of Finance of the Cavaco Silva government, Miguel Cadilhe, the former European Commissioner Carlos Moedas, the former Minister of Economy of the PS, Daniel Bessa, the former chief of staff of Cavaco Silva, Nunes Liberato or the former Minister Miguel Poiares Maduro are some of the others. members of the new CEN Advisory Council. There are independents who will take care of certain sectoral areas such as the medical case Manuel Antunes (in health) or the environmentalist João Joanaz de Melo.
