The clinical director, Manuel Pedro Magalhães, and the nursing director, Maria João Costa, of the Portuguese Red Cross Hospital (CVP), in Lisbon, abandoned their positions due to suspicions of irregular administration of the covid-19 vaccine. The ignorance of the prioritization criteria to inoculate the professionals of the unit will be questioned and that they will have been detected by the president of the Executive Committee of the unit and head of the working group of the national pandemic vaccination strategy, Francisco Ramos, who is Tuesday I had already resigned.

The Express found that Francisco Ramos instructed the director of nursing and the clinical director to organize the list of hospital elements to be inoculated but the prioritization criteria defined in Portugal have not been respected. Among the suspicions found are, for example, the administration of doses to doctors who have not worked in the unit for a long time, some for about a year.

Cardiothoracic surgeon Manuel Pedro Magalhães was president of the hospital until 2018. He was not re-elected when former general director of health Francisco George was appointed president of the Portuguese Red Cross. The surgeon was later replaced by Marta Temido, who left the place to assume the direction of the Ministry of Health.

On December 14, 2020, CVP sold the shares of the management company to Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, which elected a new board of directors for the hospital, with Misericórdia de Lisboa provider Edmundo Martinho as president and Francisco Ramos in the leadership of the Executive Committee.
