Three years later, in 1987, he celebrated FC Porto’s first continental title with Pinto da Costa, with a 2-1 victory over Bayern Munich in Vienna. The following year, after the death of Luís Teles Roxo, in a traffic accident, Reinaldo assumed the direction of the Football Department, as the president’s right hand. In 1986, Reinaldo became director of FC Porto. He came to the second most important position in the Directorate in 1990, when he was elected as one of the vice-presidents of Pinto da Costa and still a member of the Superior Council. With the creation of SAD in 1997, he also became a member of the Board of Directors of the company that manages professional football, of which he was still a member in the current 2020/2024 term, although now as a non-executive director. After 30 years as director of the club – his brother, Joaquim Costa Teles Pinheiro, was also vice president of the Board – he ceased to be part of the governing bodies that Pinto da Costa directed in 2016.

For his good services and unrivaled dedication to FC Porto, he was distinguished with the Dragão de Ouro, as coach of the year, in 1989.
