The death toll and daily cases of Covid-19 reached a new record this Friday in Portugal. There are another 40 deaths related to Covid-19 and 4656 new confirmed cases of infection, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS).

According to the bulletin released this Friday, Portugal has registered 137,272 confirmed cases of infection by the new coronavirus and 2,468 deaths.

Of the 40 deaths, 19 occurred in the north, 13 in Lisbon and the Tagus valley, three in the center, three in the Alentejo and two in the Algarve. The northern region continues to record the highest number of new infections every day, today with more than 1,088.

Regarding hospitalizations, the number of people hospitalized continues to increase, with 1,927 people now, 93 more than on Thursday, and of these, 275 are in Intensive Care Units, six more than yesterday.

Health officials now have 65,305 people under surveillance, plus 879 in the last 24 hours. DGS also reveals that 57,355 cases are active, plus 2,869. In the last 24 hours, 1,747 cases were recovered, totaling 77,449 since the start of the pandemic.
