The cases diagnosed on the island of Faial refer to three men, between 33 and 63 years of age, non-residents, who disembarked in the Region from an air connection with the mainland, having obtained a negative result. in the SARS-CoV-2 virus detection test carried out before shipment and positive result in the detection test carried out from the sixth day.

The cases present a stable clinical situation and the procedures defined for the confirmed case, tests and surveillance of close contacts, as well as all those inherent to the deepening of the epidemiological investigation, have already been carried out by the Health Delegations of Concelhias.

Three recoveries were registered on the island of São Miguel, bringing the number of cases recovered from COVID-19 in the Region to 181.

Thus, so far, 302 cases of infection by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes the disease COVID-19, have been detected in the Region, with 73 active positive cases at present, of which 49 on the island from São Miguel, 11 on Terceira Island, five on Pico Island, four on Graciosa Island, three on Faial Island and one on Santa María Island.
