The Municipal Health Authority has already initiated the procedures inherent to the epidemiological investigation of these cases, including the identification, testing and surveillance of close contacts.

On the island of Terceira, two male individuals, aged 17 and 24, were diagnosed as close contacts with a high risk of positive cases reported on Tuesday, and procedures for the identification, testing and surveillance of close contacts are underway. .

Thus, screening tests for the SARS-CoV-2 virus will be performed on all high-risk close contacts of the 17-year-old, including members of the respective class, at the Angra do Heroísmo educational establishment who are already in isolation. prophylactic.

It is also reported that two positive cases reported on Tuesday, referring to a man, aged 24, on the island of São Miguel, and a man, aged 44, on Terceira Island, presented supporting documentation. infection and subsequent recovery, so they are no longer considered active in the Region.

In addition, it should be noted that a positive case also reported on Tuesday, relating to a 42-year-old woman, on the island of Faial, left the Region despite the authorities, with the Municipal Health Authority developing the procedures for its follow-up in abroad.

Thus, so far, 407 cases of infection by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes the COVID-19 disease, have been detected in the Region, with 88 currently active positive cases, of which 68 on the island from São Miguel, 11 on Terceira Island, one on Graciosa Island, four on Pico Island, two on Faial Island, one on Santa María Island and one on Flores Island.
