In the municipalities with the highest incidence of cases -Funchal, Câmara de Lobos and Ribeira Brava-, the Government decided that the opening of classes should be progressive, so that the health authorities can carry out a concentrated and dedicated assessment of the situation.
In these municipalities, as the tests are carried out, educational establishments will be opened.
The Executive expects that the public and private educational and teaching establishments in the municipalities of Funchal, Câmara de Lobos and Ribeira Brava will be prepared for their reopening until January 11, 2021.
The other educational and teaching establishments, in the other provinces, open at defined hours, that is, on January 4, 2021.
The test teams will begin their work on the morning of Monday, January 4, in the three identified municipalities, with the aim of monitoring the more than 6,000 teachers and educational assistants.
Following this decision, extracurricular activities in Funchal, Câmara de Lobos and Ribeira Brava will be suspended until January 10, 2021.
Therefore, all activities carried out in these municipalities are suspended, regardless of the origin of the practitioners.
Until the reopening of the respective educational establishment, a person in charge of education per home, who must remain at home due to the need to accompany his student (under 12 years of age), while attending an educational establishment in 3 mentioned municipalities, will see his absence justified labor.
