As the JM learned from the regional delegation Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera (IPMA), the rainfall is expected to worsen this afternoon.

The highest levels of rainfall throughout today were recorded in Pico do Areeiro (95 mm), followed by São Jorge (89), Santana (87), Chão do Areeiro (65), Quinta Grande (53), Funchal (27.5) and Porto. Moniz (17).

However, according to Víctor Prior, IPMA regional delegate, these figures are expected to continue increasing, reaching their peak in the afternoon, although a slight improvement is expected.

Likewise, an aggravation of the rains is expected during the night of today and the early hours of this Sunday.

Remember that the IPMA issued an orange warning, which is in effect from 10am today, due to heavy rains and thunderstorms. Porto Santo, on the other hand, is under a yellow warning until 3:00 p.m. this Sunday, due to the showers, which will sometimes be strong and accompanied by a storm.
