Vila Verde merchants with establishments of up to 200 square meters can now request a 60% exemption from municipal water, sanitation and waste rates for the month of December and the first quarter of 2021.

In a statement, the autarchy led by António Vilela (PSD) also highlights that “in the case of restoration, this limit can be exceeded.”

This measure was taken by the executive “in order to mitigate the serious consequences that the Covid-19 pandemic introduced into the business fabric” of the municipality and is part of a package of 19 more social and economic measures, already announced.

In the social area, the municipality decided to “exempt from payment of all social housing rents for the month of December of this year and during the first quarter of 2021”, as well as “to grant, exceptionally, a subsidy to all Private Social Security Institutions (IPSS) to cover the costs of cleaning and purchasing personal protective equipment and to guarantee that covid-19 detection tests are carried out for users of Residential Structures for the Elderly (ERPI) in the facilities of the respective institution ”.

The municipality also, “in conjunction with Social Security, will carry out a periodic and systematic check on all ERPI employees and will provide human and material resources to support the Health Authority in its pandemic control activity”, as well as “proceed delivery of medical prescriptions and medicines at home, to the elderly and chronically ill ”.

Still in the social area, “the regular and continuous supply of all the protection material to the schools and to all the personnel who attend education in the municipal areas will be carried out, ensuring food baskets for a number of indicated families. , continuing to secure the telephone lines for psychological and social care derived from the pandemic ”and to finance the purchase of“ masks and protection material for families with economic difficulties ”.

In the economic sphere, the municipality of Vila Verde decided to exempt the “total exemption of fixed and variable rates for water, sanitation and waste to all domestic consumers who benefit from the social rate, up to a limit of 20 cubic meters, during months of December and 1st quarter of 2021 ”.

It will be granted “the extension of the term for the voluntary payment of the billing of water, sanitation and waste services up to 45 days” and “a total exemption from the rates of occupation of public space, during 2021, for the installation of furniture urban, awnings and advertising, for all catering, commerce and service companies “, as well as” total exemption from fees for occupation of public space and non-concessioned parking spaces for the expansion and installation of terraces during the year 2021 “.

The municipality will provide “tax benefits to support investment and the creation of new jobs”, to “support investment and the creation of new jobs in IMT”, to “support investment and the creation of new jobs in landfills and urban rates ”.

An alliance with AEVH will also be established in order to “develop actions and campaigns to promote and support local commerce” and exempt 50% of the rent payment in December and during the first quarter of 2021 to establishments affected by commerce. , restoration and services, whose stores are owned by the municipality.
