Portuguese striker Ricardo Quaresma said on Tuesday that he intends to end his career at Vitória de Guimarães, a club in the 1st Portuguese soccer league, with which he signed a contract valid for two seasons with one more option.

At the public presentation ceremony as a Guimarães player, which took place in the iconic Paços dos Duques, the 36-year-old Portuguese international explained the reasons that led him to return to the national championship and to choose the Minho emblem.

“It was a club that gave me confidence and believed in me. Everyone knows the history of Vitória. This is where I will finish my career. I will do everything possible to achieve our goals. If they came to me it is because they believe in my determination, irreverence and personality ”Said Ricardo Quaresma.

The forward, who played for Kasimpasa Turks last season, guaranteed to “feel good physically” for this new challenge in his career, guaranteeing ambitious goals on a personal and collective level.

“The ambition is always to enter to win. I am well physically, then the rest I go with the talent that God gave me. I think we will do a great job, with a young team and some experienced players,” he shared.

The experienced footballer confessed that, even for family reasons, “it was time to stay in Portugal”, but he guaranteed that the Vitória de Guimarães project was the only one that seduced him.

“I couldn’t finish in any club, that’s why I chose Vitória. No one ever spoke to me about Boavista, with FC Porto there wasn’t much conversation. Vitória was the club that gave me confidence and I believe in myself. I’m here to give it my all “, shared.

Regarding his availability to represent the Portuguese team again, Ricardo Quaresma left the ‘door open’.

“My concern is to help Vitória and his goals. If Fernando Santos wants to invite me to the national team, I am available, but now I am only focused on the team,” he said.

Before the declarations of the Portuguese international, Carlos Freitas, sports director of Vitória de Guimarães, considered this moment of presentation of Ricardo Quaresma as “one of the most special” of his career.

“It is a pride to bring to Vitória an athlete with 24 titles in her career and 83 internationalizations, she comes to dimension our brand, and is a decisive stone in the growth that we are treading,” he said.

The official spoke of “unlimited confidence” in the athlete’s abilities, noting that “the two-year contract with one more option will be important for both parties.”
