The Madeira Regional Command reported on Tuesday that it prevented the suicide of a young man in the parish of Campanário.

The incident occurred at 12:37 pm, when the PSP was called to “Estrada da Adega, in Campanário, due to the fact that an individual, aged 21, shouted that he wanted to commit suicide,” reads the statement sent to the newsrooms.

“The man had several head injuries and was quite bloody, because moments before he had thrown himself from a wall of about 2 meters and had intentionally hit his head with an aluminum door with glass parts,” it is described in the same note.

“The individual was very agitated, agitated and aggressive, continued to inflict various injuries on himself, probably under the influence of alcohol and / or narcotics, and did not obey the orders of the agents to stop his behavior. Even with the support of police reinforcements, and as It was not possible, by other means, to control the subject, it was necessary to use an electric weapon, with a low lethal potential, to be able to handle it ”.

After being handcuffed, he was taken by ambulance, by the Ribeira Brava Volunteer Firefighters, to the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment and observation.
