An agent from the PSP Traffic Division was hit on IP7 (Axis N / S) by a high-powered motorcycle at 6:30 pm on Monday, according to Record TV.
The brutal run over occurred near the exit to Avenida de Ceuta, Lisbon, when the motorcycle driver tried to escape a police approach. After running over the PSP member, the suspect fled on foot, but was eventually arrested by members of the PSP Prevention and Immediate Response Teams.
According to what we learned, the PSP officer was in serious condition, with suspected head trauma. He was transferred to the Hospital S. Francisco Xavier, in Lisbon.
A 9mm firearm was found on the bicycle, as well as some ammunition, which were seized.
Record TV knows that the suspect is 28 years old and has a long criminal history related to drug trafficking.
Record TV tried to contact the Lisbon Metropolitan PSP Command, which confirms the serious episode, but sends more information on Tuesday.
