The Lisbon Metropolitan Command (Cometlis), through the Amadora Police Division, announced this Saturday that it had identified more than 400 people and closed an illegal nightclub, as part of an operation to control concentrations against covid-19.

In a press release, Cometlis reports that, at the end of Friday, it promoted a “large-scale operation in the Bairro Alto da Cova da Moura and Quinta da Lage, with the aim of restoring the feeling of security in the communities of both settlements. population in the municipality of Amadora ”, in the district of Lisbon.

This operation began at 7 p.m. in Bairro Alto and lasted until 10 p.m., resulting in the identification of some 300 people, about 80 light vehicles, two establishments that operated after 8 p.m. were inspected and closed and two orders were executed of arrest. detention.

Between 0:30 and 3 in the morning of this Saturday, “after a compilation of information that pointed to the illegal exercise of a restaurant and beverage establishment, transformed into a disco in Quinta da Lage, it was closed”, refers to Cometlis . According to the statement, the PSP found that the DJ was working in the establishment within the neighborhood, in a space of about 50 square meters and from where 112 citizens were taken to identify themselves.

“These identifications resulted in the execution of an arrest warrant in the context of a process of aggravated domestic violence, two citizens identified for possession of drugs and a report with the arrest of knives and drugs found within the space,” read the note.

Cometlis also revealed that among the identified citizens was a 16-year-old girl, who had been missing from an institution in Barreiro for about a month. Eight citizens were also taken to the Criminal Investigation Station for pending procedural proceedings.

The operation included all the rapid intervention teams of the Amadora Police Division, motorcyclists from the Traffic Police, various criminal investigation teams, police intelligence and reinforcement of the Special Police Unit.

During the period in which the police action was carried out, checkpoints were placed on all the roads of the Bairro Alto, at the same time that the inspection of the establishments within this urban building was carried out, PSP also reports.

Cometlis warns that these operations “will continue to be a reality in this territory, with the aim of contributing to the feeling of security of the populations that ask the PSP to intervene in these neighborhoods and aim to control concentrations during the pandemic reality that the country is experiencing” .
