PSP closes bars and cafes in Loures, arrests owner for breach – Observer

The authorities closed several bars and cafes in the municipality of Loures and arrested an owner for breach of the rules established in the field of Covid-19, announced this Monday the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the PSP (Cometlis).

In a statement, Cometlis affirms that the detainee is 25 years old and owns a cafeteria in Camarate, having been previously notified by the authorities for failure to comply with the covid-19 prevention measures. According to the note, the establishment in question was operating beyond the stipulated hours and without guaranteeing compliance with storage regulations, physical distance between customers and the use of a mask.

“The owner had already been sued on October 4 and 22 for the same type of non-compliance, showing total disregard for the exceptional measures in force, aggravated by the fact that the establishment is located in a residential area, whose residents end up being victims excessive noise, caused by the operation of the establishment and by customer meetings that end up taking place on public roads ”, justifies the PSP.

The note indicates that this arrest was the result of a series of inspection actions against bars and cafes in the municipality of Loures, in the district of Lisbon, with the aim of “ensuring compliance with the defined standards, especially with regard to consumption of alcoholic beverages on public roads, closing times and prevention of concentrations and concentrations.

The Covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than 1.1 million deaths and more than 43 million cases of contagion worldwide, according to a report prepared by the French agency AFP. In Portugal, 2,343 people died from 121,133 confirmed cases of infection, according to the most recent bulletin from the Directorate General of Health.
