First it was the trump card of Moedas, for Lisbon, now comes the PSD municipal composition for the whole country. José Silvano presents today the first “about 100” names that the PSD will launch for the municipal race, after the solution found for Lisbon (Carlos Moedas) and Setúbal (Fernando Negrão) was made public. There are 23 new names and 77 reelections of current presidents, including Carlos Carreias in Cascais, a well-known critic of Rui Rio, and Almeida Henriques in Viseu.

In addition to the re-elections, José Silvano admits that “four or five” current presidents did not want to run again, and that there are differences between local structures and the national leadership in “less than a dozen” municipalities. In any case, Silvano guarantees that PSD will assume all the responsibilities of the chosen names.

In Coimbra it also seems certain that the PSD will bet on the former president of the Ordem dos Médicos, José Manuel Silva, to bet on a coalition with the independents who had an important part of the votes in the last elections – assumed as a “disgrace”.

José Silvano begins by saying that the objective is that On March 31, the application submission process is “completed”. “We have not referred to the bureaucratic role of receiving the applications approved by the municipalities and districts without having a critical judgment on the candidates,” he says, guaranteeing that the national leadership assumes the “responsibility” of assuming the candidates in their entirety, and is it does not limit itself to ratifying the names indicated.

The municipal coordinator also says that “almost all processes” are agreed between both parties. “We will not have more than a dozen cases in which there is a difference between the structures and the national one”he says, insisting on the question of responsibility towards the party leadership.

Among the 100 candidates that Silvano will present, 23 are new candidates, e 77 are ree-candidates to a second term (there are 13 that cannot be reapplied due to the limitation of terms). That is, (almost) everyone who can do it reapplies, and only “four or five” who do not want to, admits Silvano.

Among the re-elected presidents, Carlos Carreiras, a well-known Rio critic, is confirmed as a candidate for the Cascais council.
