We still don’t know whether to accept the discs from the previous console.
Sony has yet to fully clarify the PS5 backward compatibility system (we don’t know if the console accepts PS4 discs, for example), but Jim Ryon, CEO of PlayStation, has arrived to ensure that the overwhelming majority of games PS4 will work on new console.
Jim Ryan told the Washington Post that 99 percent of PS4 games can be played on PS5. It’s a moment of relief for those who have bought a lot of games on PS4 and are planning to transition now, or at least eventually, to the new console.
In the same interview, the PlayStation director also pledged to support the PlayStation 4 community for at least three to four years, commenting that “many will move to PS5, we hope to do our job well, but tens of millions will continue to do so on PS4” .
