The PS recovered almost two percentage points (37.2%) in voting intentions and the PSD fell again to 23.9% from 27% in October, according to the November Aximage barometer for TSF and Newspaper. The group on the right is worth less than the PS in voting intentions, but Chega is the only one who stands up.

The fieldwork took place between November 23 and 26, after the agreement in the Azores between PSD and Chega was known, as well as after the Government announced more restrictive measures to combat the pandemic. It was also the moment of the final stretch of the State Budget (SO) when BE reiterated the vote against. Blockers lost ground (from 10% to 7.9%) while the PCP remained at 5.8%, according to the same barometer.

Among the parties that made OE feasible, the PAN was the only one that rose, from 5.2% to 6.5%. With this recovery, the PS is worth more than the right as a whole (34.6%). Only Chega gains points (from 5.4% to 7.5%) while the Liberal Initiative loses one percentage point to 3.2% and the CDS is reduced to 1%.

Regarding the assessment of the confidence of the leaders of the PS and PSD in the Prime Minister, António Costa consolidates the preferences (50%) while Rui Rio is well below with 18%.

In evaluating the performance of the party leaders, António Costa leads the way with 55% positive opinions, leaving behind Rui Rio (with 29%), Catarina Martins (BE) with 25%, almost at the same level than André Silva (PAN) and André Ventura (Chega), both with 24%.

The survey was conducted by Aximage for TSF and JN, with the aim of evaluating the opinion of the Portuguese on issues related to the intention to vote in legislatures and the evaluation of party leaders. The field work was carried out between November 23 and 26, 2020 through a sample of 647 interviews, corresponding to a 95% confidence level with a 3.90% margin of error, according to Aximage.
