A federal judge dismissed the lawsuit by a Republican congressman who intended to authorize US Vice President Mike Pence to reject Electoral College votes in Joe Biden when Congress meets to verify his victory against Donald Trump, March 6. A Justice Department attorney who represented Pence asked Judge Kernodle to dismiss the case, arguing that the vice president was “the wrong person” to sue for these purposes. “The Senate and House of Representatives, not the vice president, have legal interests sufficiently contrary to those of the plaintiffs to justify a case,” the defense of Pence reads.

A spokesman for Trump declined to comment on the judge’s decision and referred reporters to Pence’s office, whose spokesperson declined to comment.
