Presidential: TC gives two days to André Ventura and Tiago Mayan to “compensate for irregularities”

The Constitutional Court (TC) detected irregularities in the candidacy processes of the presidents of the Republic of André Ventura, Tiago Mayan Gonçalves and Eduardo Baptista, who will have two days to “correct” these deficiencies.

In a ruling published today on the TC website, the Ratton Palace judges also announce the admission, now, of the five remaining candidates -João Ferreira, Marisa Matias, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Vitorino Silva and Ana Gomes-, after being analyzed . the respective processes.

On the contrary, the TC indicates failures in three candidacy processes: in the case of the deputy and leader of Chega André Ventura a Belém “there is no indication of profession”, according to the sentence.

As for Tiago Mayan Gonçalves, founder and leader of the Liberal Initiative, the TC indicates the lack of the number of the mandatory identification document and the number of legally required signatures, a minimum of 7,500.

“They are only regularly instructed, duly signed and with the subscriber registration certificate in the electoral roll attached to the respective statement of proposition – in order to prove the registration of the proponents in that roll, as required by law -, proposition statements by 5,961 voters, ”the ruling refers.

As for citizen Eduardo Baptista, the TC mentions several flaws in the process, in which only the proposition pronouncements of six voting citizens are “regularly instructed”.

In addition, the complete number of the identification document, the negative certificate of the guardianship registration or other proof that you enjoy all civil and political rights, the certificate of criminal record and the full number of the representative’s identification document, as well as address in Lisbon for notification purposes.

The TC considers that, in the candidacies of João Ferreira, Marisa Matias, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Vitorino Silva and Ana Gomes, “the respective processes are regularly organized, the documents that comprise them are authentic and demonstrate the eligibility of all these candidates, and that it contains a number of declarations of presentation of each candidacy that is between the minimum of 7,500 and the maximum of 15,000 voters ”.

“Consequently, these applications are now, and without further ado, in a condition to be admitted”, underlines the sentence.

As for the remaining three, the ruling determines “the immediate notification of the representatives of the candidates André Claro Amaral Ventura, Eduardo Nelson da Costa Baptista and Tiago Pedro de Sousa Mayan Gonçalves so that, within 2 days, they address the irregularities identified above in relation to the respective candidates. “.
