On July 27, the PDR leader announced his intention to run for the presidential elections, presenting himself as a “candidate of the center, a center that covers each and every one of the positions, as long as it is the most correct to be applied at a time. dice”. .

Bruno Fialho is 45 years old and has a degree in Law, having practiced as a lawyer. Currently, he is the cabin manager of an airline and vice president of the National Union of Civil Aviation Flight Personnel (SNPVAC).

He gained notoriety when, in August 2019, he was invited to mediate in the negotiations between the SNMMP (National Union of Hazardous Materials Drivers) and ANTRAM (National Association for Public Transport of Goods by Road).

He was elected president of the Democratic Republican Party on January 18, 2020, succeeding António Marinho e Pinto.

With the withdrawal of Bruno Fialho, there are eight candidates for Belém: former PS MEP Ana Gomes, Chega MP André Ventura, PCP MEP João Ferreira, current President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, European Parliament MP Marisa Matias, businessman Paulo Alves, lawyer and leader of the Liberal Initiative Tiago Mayan and Vitorino Silva, cobbler and former president of the Parish Council of Rans, Penafiel.

The elections to the Presidency of the Republic are scheduled for January 24, 2021.
