Over the next two and a half years, 7 photovoltaic plants will be built and 1 million solar panels will be installed in Angola, enough energy to serve 2.4 million people. The project includes numerous international entities, but the leader is the Portuguese group MCA, linked to innovative technologies, environment and security.

With the aim of revolutionizing access to energy in Angola and taking it to needy territories, in supply and access to the public grid, panels will be installed and photovoltaic plants will be built for a total of 370 megawatts (MWp).

Hundreds of Angolans living in isolated areas will have energy for the first time, with the particularity that it is “clean” energy, avoiding the emission of 935,953 tons of CO2 per year.

The Portuguese group MCA is the main entity of the MCA Solar Angola project and has developed both the technological and financial components, without forgetting the certification, in accordance with international standards for environmental and social impact. The rest of the partners come from different continents and met, according to a statement from the MCA Group, “because of their size, experience and strategic vision in sustainability.”

The project, valued at 523 million euros, is the largest intervention program in public and renewable energy in sub-Saharan Africa. Designed with the objective of generating a positive environmental, social and economic impact on the Angolan people and marking the future of sustainable energy in the country, according to the statements of the MCA group.

With its participation in the MCA Solar Angola project, “the MCA Group makes its contribution to the fulfillment of the United Nations Sustainable Development objective, which seeks to guarantee access to reliable, modern and sustainable energy at affordable prices”, reinforces the statement released by the Portuguese group.
