A 29-year-old Portuguese man was stabbed to death Saturday night at a restaurant in Morges, Switzerland, local press reported, and authorities have already announced the arrest of the alleged killer.

According to some witnesses, the victim, who had recently resided in the region working picking apples, was waiting in line at the restaurant with her partner around 9 pm when he was attacked with a knife. by a man who later got away.

Contacted by the Lusa agency, a source from the Secretariat of State for Portuguese Communities confirmed the victim’s nationality, expressed his condolences to the family and is following the case through the General Consulate of Portugal in Geneva.

“This consular office is in contact with the victim’s family to support the transfer of the body to Portugal and with the Swiss authorities, seeking to investigate the circumstances of the crime,” the same source told Lusa.

The Swiss authorities have already issued a statement in which they indicate that the alleged murderer was arrested in Renens, another town also in the canton of Vaud, located in the district of Lausanne.

According to the statement, the authorities opened a criminal investigation led by the cantonal prosecutor’s office, and the investigations were entrusted to experts from the criminal brigade of the security police to determine with greater precision the circumstances of the murder.
