Portugal with more than 1,071 confirmed cases and 33 deaths from Covid-19 – O Jornal Economico

Portugal registers a total of 803,844 confirmed cases of Covid-19 disease, 1,071 more than the previous day, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) of this Saturday, February 27. The number of deaths from infection with the new coronavirus has risen to 16,276, plus 33 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Active Covid-19 cases currently number 70,255 infected, 1,782 less than on Friday. Regarding hospitalizations, the DGS reports 2,180 hospitalizations (224 less than yesterday), of which 492 (30 less than on Friday) in Intensive Care Units (ICU).

Portugal registers 717,313 cases recovered since the start of the pandemic in the country, 2,820 more than those registered in the last bulletin. The DGS also said 48,490 people are under surveillance, 4,676 fewer than on Friday.

According to data from the organization led by Graça Freitas, there are currently 326,075 cases registered in the North, 114,860 in the Center, 304,277 in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, 28,409 cases in Alentejo, 20,066 in the Algarve, 6,423 cases in the Autonomous Region. Region of the Azores and 3,734 of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

Of the 16,276 deaths, there were 5,201 in the north, 2,900 in the center, 6,805 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, 944 in the Alentejo, 337 in the Algarve, 28 in the Azores and 61 deaths in Madeira.

Currently, there are 363,571 men and 440,003 women infected with the new coronavirus. Regarding deaths, there are 8,506 men and 7,770 women.

In this Saturday’s statement, the DGS indicates that it is investigating 270 cases related to gender identification. “Cases of unknown sex are being investigated, as these data are not automatically delivered,” explains DGS.
