This Saturday, Portugal counted, until 4:00 p.m., 478 incidents due to bad weather, being the districts of Lisbon (212), Leiria (55) and Setúbal (46) the most penalized.

In a balance with data up to 4 in the afternoon, the commander of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Association, Pedro Araújo, told Lusa, regarding the typology of the events, “there are 109 associated with falling trees, 232 associated with floods and 94 with falling structures, the rest being distributed between road cleaning, massive movements, landslides and the like ”.

The Civil Protection official guaranteed that “there is no record of injuries associated with weather conditions.”

“What we have are some interrupted secondary roads and some floods that cause limitations in road traffic,” added Pedro Araújo.

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) today placed 13 of the 18 districts in orange, including the entire coast of the country, and five of the interior in yellow due to bad weather.

According to the institute’s website, coastal districts, including the entire Algarve, are under orange warning.

The orange warnings are mainly due to rainfall, although in the northernmost districts, Porto, Braga and Viana do Castelo, they are also due to the agitation of the wind and the sea.

The districts of Évora, Portalegre, Castelo Branco, Guarda and Bragança are under yellow warning, as are the archipelagos of Madeira and the Azores.

The National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) has a yellow alert for the 18 districts.

The yellow alert situation will continue until after 1pm on Sunday.

The orange warning indicates a meteorological situation of moderate to high risk and the yellow warning is issued by the IPMA whenever there is a risk for certain activities depending on the meteorological situation.
