Portugal with 218 deaths from Covid-19 – O Jornal Económico

Portugal has a total of 566,958 confirmed cases of Covid-19, plus 10,455 compared to the previous day, reveals the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) published this Tuesday, January 19. The number of deaths from the new coronavirus in the country has risen to 9,246, with an additional 218 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The DGS reveals that there are currently 261,287 cases registered in the North (more 2,970), 76,173 in the Center (more 1,605), 191,718 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (more 5,012), 12,897 in the Algarve (more 198), 3,050 cases in the Autonomous Region of Azores (more than 39), 2,844 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (more than 100) and 18,989 cases in Alentejo (more than 531).

There are currently 5,291 hospitalized patients (126 more), of which 670 are in Intensive Care Units (six more) and 421,871 cases recovered in Portugal, 10,282 more than those registered yesterday.

Regarding deaths, of the total of 9,246 deaths, 3,811 are registered in the North (more than 51), 1,495 in the Center (more than 55), 3,332 in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley (more than 88), 127 in the Algarve ( plus five), 22 in the Azores and 431 in the Alentejo (17 more). There are 28 deaths from Covid-19 in Madeira (two more).

There are currently 255,226 men and 311,550 women infected with the new coronavirus, with 182 infected people whose gender is unknown. In terms of deaths, there were 4,807 men and 4,439 women. 174,355 people are under surveillance, 8,120 more than yesterday. There are still 135,841 active cases, 45 less than the one seen yesterday.

The age group with the highest number of cases is between 40 and 49 years old, with 40,996 men and 52,820 women, in addition to 32 people of unknown sex, in a total of 93,816 cases. The highest number of deaths is recorded over 80 years, with 2,826 men and 3,407 women, in a total of 6,233 deaths.
