Portugal with 16 more deaths from covid-19, the highest number since May 20

In Portugal, in the last 24 hours, 16 more people died from the covid-19 pandemic – the highest number of deaths since May 20, when 16 deaths were also reported.

Yesterday more than 1 208 cases of contagion were confirmed (an increase of 1.4% compared to the previous day). According to the epidemiological bulletin of the General Health Directorate (DGS) this Tuesday (October 13), in total, since the pandemic began, 89,121 infected, 54,047 recovered (plus 549), 2,110 deaths in the country.

The 16 new deaths are distributed by Lisbon and the Tagus Valley (ten), the North (five) and the Center (one).

The fatal victims are nine men and seven women. Among these, there were 11 people over 80 years old, four between 70 and 79, one between 60 and 69.

The country’s overall death rate is now 2.37%, reaching 12.7% in the case of people over 70 years of age, the main fatalities.

North with 59% of new cases

At this time, there are 32,964 active Portuguese patients to be followed by the health authorities, 643 more than yesterday.
