Portugal registers more than 2,506 cases and 46 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours – O Jornal Economico

Portugal has a total of 146,847 confirmed cases of Covid-19, 2,506 more than the previous day, reveals the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) published this Monday, October 2. The number of deaths from the new coronavirus in the country rose to 2,590, registering a record of fatalities, with 46 more deaths in the last 24 hours.

The DGS reveals that there are currently 66,145 cases registered in the North (plus 1,202), 13,050 in the Center (plus 333), 61,064 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (plus 845), 2,904 in the Algarve (plus 66), 371 cases in the Autonomous Region of Azores (plus one), 459 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (plus 13) and 2,854 cases in Alentejo (plus 46).

Currently, there are 2,255 hospitalized patients (133 more), of which 294 are in Intensive Care Units (10 more) (ICU) and 83,294 cases recovered in Portugal, 1,523 more than those registered yesterday.

Regarding deaths, of the total of 2,590 deaths, 1,151 are registered in the North (plus 20), 323 in the Center (plus six), 1,021 in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley (over 17), 29 in the Algarve, 15 in the Azores, 50 in Alentejo, having registered the first death from Covid-19 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

There are currently 66,617 men and 80,230 women infected with the new coronavirus. In terms of deaths, there are 1,320 men and 1,270 women. 66,428 people are under surveillance, 1,623 more than yesterday. There are still 60,963 active cases, 937 more than the one seen yesterday.

The age group with the highest number of cases is between 20 and 29 years old, with 11,772 men and 13,069 women, in a total of 24,841 cases. The highest number of deaths is registered in the 80 years, with 771 men and 968 women, in a total of 1,739 deaths.
