Portugal registers another 665 new confirmed cases and nine deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours – O Jornal Economico

Portugal has a total of 73,604 confirmed cases of Covid-19, 665 more than the previous day, reveals the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) published this Sunday, September 27. The number of fatalities due to contagion with a new coronavirus increased to 1,953, registering nine more in the last 24 hours, of which two were victims in the North, two in the Center and five in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley.

Today there are 24,004 active cases of infection by a new coronavirus in Portugal, 389 more than yesterday. There are 635 hospitalized patients (20 more than yesterday), of which 89 are in Intensive Care Units (four more).

In total, there are 47,647 cases of people who recovered from the disease today, 267 more than yesterday. The DGS also said the number of surveillance contacts reached 44,274 people, 691 more than on Saturday.

According to data from the organization led by Graça Freitas, of the 73,604 cases confirmed by Covid-19, 40,233 are women and 33,371 men. Most of the deaths are 984 men and the remaining 969 are women. In both men and women, the majority of victims are over 80 years old.

By region, Lisbon and the Tagus Valley lead in number of cases, with 37,628 confirmed to date, 252 more than yesterday. The northern region has a total of 26,407 confirmed cases (but 246), the central region has 6,017 cases (more than 70), the Algarve 1,581 (more than 38), the Alentejo 1,487 (more than 55), the Azores 267 ( more than one) and Madeira 217 (three more).

In deaths, the North region leads, with a total of 881 (two more than yesterday), followed by Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, with 753 (five more than yesterday) and the Central Region, with 262 (two more). The Alentejo registers a total of 23 deaths from Covid-19, the Algarve 19 and the Azores 15. In Madeira there are no victims to cry.
