Portugal registers 770 more cases and 10 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours – O Jornal Economico

Portugal has a total of 66,396 confirmed cases of Covid-19, 770 more than the previous day, reveals the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) published this Thursday, September 17. The number of deaths from the new coronavirus in the country rose to 1,888, with 10 deaths in the last 24 hours.

DGS reveals that there are currently 23,984 cases registered in the North (more than 255), 5,480 in the Center (more than 97), 33,960 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (more than 373), 1,304 in the Algarve (more than 14), 241 cases in the Autonomous Region of Azores (one more), 196 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (three more) and 1,231 cases in Alentejo (another 14).

There are currently 480 hospitalized patients, of which 59 are in Intensive Care Units (ICU) and 44,794 cases recovered in Portugal, 266 more than those registered yesterday. Regarding deaths, of the total of 1,888 deaths, 864 are registered in the North, 256 in the Center, 711 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, 19 in the Algarve, 15 in the Azores, 23 in the Alentejo. There is no death from Covid-19 in Madeira.

There are currently 29,987 men and 36,409 women infected with the new coronavirus. In terms of deaths, there are 952 men and 936 women. 37,804 people are under surveillance, 517 more than yesterday. There are still 19,714 active cases, 494 more than yesterday.

The age group with the highest number of cases is between 30 and 39 years old, with 5,178 men and 5,742 women, in a total of 10,920 cases. The highest number of deaths is recorded in 80 years, with 554 men and 705 women, in a total of 1,259 deaths.
