Portugal registers 7,497 more cases and 59 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours – O Jornal Economico

Portugal has a total of 156,940 confirmed cases of Covid-19, 7,497 more than the previous day, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) of this Wednesday, November 4. The number of deaths from infection with the new coronavirus has risen to 2,694. There are 59 other deaths in the last 24 hours.

The reported figures show a new record in terms of the number of new confirmed cases and the number of deaths from Covid-19. However, DGS explains in its bulletin that today’s data includes a late update: “the data presented in today’s report includes the sum of 3,570 cases, as a result of the delay in the laboratory report, mainly from a laboratory in the North , already on October 30 ”.

Active cases of Covid-19 today amount to 65,300 infected, 5,081 more than on Tuesday. Regarding hospitalizations, 2,337 hospitalizations were reported to the DGS (12 less than yesterday), of which 325 were in Intensive Care Units (ICU), which translates into another five admissions to the ICU.

To date, Portugal has 88,946 cases recovered since the start of the pandemic in the country, 2,357 more than on Tuesday. The DGS also said that 65,566 people are under surveillance, 81 fewer than yesterday.

According to data from the organization led by Graça Freitas, there are currently 72,875 cases registered in the North, 13,860 in the Center, 63,250 in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, 3,031 cases in Alentejo, 3,032 in the Algarve, 388 cases in the Autonomous Region of the Azores and 504 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

Of the 2,694 deaths, there were 1,206 in the north, 333 in the center, 1,057 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, 53 in the Alentejo, 29 in the Algarve, 15 in the Azores and one death in Madeira.

Currently, there are 71,233 men and 85,707 women infected with the new coronavirus. In terms of deaths, there are 1,376 men and 1,318 women sick with Covid-19.
