Portugal registers 6,994 cases and 69 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours – O Jornal Economico

Portugal has a total of 243,009 confirmed cases of Covid-19, plus 6,994 compared to the previous day, reveals the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) published this Thursday, November 19. The number of deaths from the new coronavirus in the country has risen to 3,701, with 69 more deaths in the last 24 hours.

DGS reveals that there are currently 124,572 cases registered in the North (plus 4,415), 22,921 in the Center (plus 724), 84,800 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (over 1,542), 4,459 in the Algarve (plus 102), 684 cases in the Autonomous Region of Azores (more than 40), 748 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (more than 26) and 4,825 cases in Alentejo (more than 145).

Currently, there are 3,017 hospitalized patients (less 34), of which 458 are in Intensive Care Units (26 more) and 157,924 cases recovered in Portugal, 4,222 more than those registered yesterday.

In terms of deaths, of the total of 3,701 deaths, 1,726 were registered in the North (plus 29), 466 in the Center (plus 12), 1,363 in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley (plus 24), 40 in the Algarve (plus three), 15 in the Azores and 89 in the Alentejo (one more). There are two deaths from Covid-19 in Madeira.

There are currently 107,310 men and 131,249 women infected with the new coronavirus, and there are 4,630 infected people whose gender is unknown. In terms of deaths, there were 1,897 men and 1,804 women. 80,097 people are under surveillance, 470 more than yesterday. There are still 81,384 active cases, 2,703 more than the one seen yesterday.

The age group with the highest number of cases is between 40 and 49 years old, with 17,399 men and 22,704 women, to which are added 677 people of unknown sex, in a total of 40,780 cases. The highest number of deaths is registered over 80 years, with 1,126 men and 1,378 women, in a total of 2,504 deaths.
