Since the beginning of the pandemic, Portugal has registered a total of 211,266 confirmed cases of Covid-19. Only in the last 24 hours, 6,602 more were registered, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the General Health Directorate (DGS) released this Saturday. The number of deaths from the new coronavirus rose to 3,305, and between yesterday and today there were 55 more deaths.

The DGS also reveals that there are 91,936 contacts under surveillance by the health authorities, which corresponds to an increase of 1,511 compared to the previous day. The number of active Covid-19 cases continues to rise, now numbering 85,444 (plus 1,412). On the other hand, the number of people recovered from the infection has risen to 122,517, after another 5,135 have been cured.

In yesterday’s press conference, the Minister of Health detailed the price list for the hospitalization of patients who are receiving treatment both in hospitals of the National Health Service (SNS) and in private hospital units. Thus, the official assured that the hospitalization of a person infected by SARS-CoV-2 outside the NHS network amounted to 2,495 euros while in the NHS it is 2,759 euros.

“In April 2020, when the Central Administration of the Health System (ACSS) prepared the first extraordinary convention, there was no series of cases of Covid-19 treatment that would allow a specific price to be determined,” Marta Temido began contextualizing.
