Portugal registers 2,194 infections and 90 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours – O Jornal Economico

Portugal has a total of 350,938 confirmed cases of Covid-19, plus 2,194 compared to the previous day, reveals the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) published this Monday, December 14. The number of deaths from the new coronavirus in the country has risen to 5,649, with an additional 90 deaths in the last 24 hours.

DGS reveals that there are currently 183,535 cases registered in the North (more 936), 36,871 in the Center (more 255), 113,871 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (more 777), 6,182 in the Algarve (more 39), 1,397 cases in the Autonomous Region of Azores (more than 62), 1,076 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (more than 24) and 8,006 cases in Alentejo (more than 101).

Currently, there are 3,254 hospitalized patients (more than 97), of which 513 are in Intensive Care Units and 274,277 cases recovered in Portugal, 2,955 more than those registered yesterday.

Regarding deaths, of the total of 5,649 deaths, 2,688 were registered in the North (plus 29), 776 in the Center (plus 24), 1,951 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (plus 32), 61 in the Algarve (plus two ), 20 in the Azores and 148 in the Alentejo (three more). There are five deaths from Covid-19 in Madeira.

There are currently 157,703 men and 193,102 women infected with the new coronavirus, with 133 infected people whose gender is unknown. In terms of deaths, there are 2,954 men and 2,695 women. 76,723 people are under surveillance, 2,711 more than yesterday. There are still 71,012 active cases, 851 less than the one seen yesterday.

The age group with the highest number of cases is between 40 and 49 years old, with 25,398 men and 33,128 women, in addition to 24 people of unknown sex, in a total of 58,550 cases. The highest number of deaths is registered over 80 years, with 1,751 men and 2,064 women, in a total of 3,815 deaths.
